PREVIOUS CONTACT LENS EXPERIENCE The patient may have previously worn contact lenses with either a positive or negative experience. If a patient had previously worn a rigid lens and discontinued due to poor comfort, it would be prudent to fit the patient with hydrogel lenses assuming they are a good hydrogel candidate. Likewise, if a patient had a history of successful rigid lens wear, had been switched to hydrogels and discontinued wear due to unsatisfactory vision or dryness symptoms, it may be better to try RGP lenses. TAKE A GOOD HISTORY and use the information to help make an intelligent choice of lens type.
